Welcome, Lila Grace...

My sweet friend Jennifer McGuire had a darling baby girl just this past Mother's Day! And, a bunch of us thought it would be great fun to welcome baby Lila with a virtual "card shower"! The card shower is being hosted at Jana Millen's place, right HERE. You can see all the cards we made there, and you can even contribute your own! How fun is that?!

Here's mine:

Totally non-traditional baby colors, right?! LOL! I covered a dress from some Maya Road Chipboard I've been hoarding with my favorite smooth bristol, trimmed it out and sponged the edges.  I used some images from Sew Artsy to create some of the details on the dress. If you look closely, you can probably figure out exactly what I did! *cheeky grin* I drew on some dots for buttons using a black glaze pen.

Love those itty bitty clothespins! EEP! I don't normally make cards with quite this much dimension, but I adore how it turned out. I will send it on its way in a padded envy. :)

5MQ Thank you Note

I have been a fan of Savvy Stamps ever since I first discovered them years ago at a Rubber Stamp Convention in Puyallup, WA  There were many great stamp companies there at the show, but there was something about Cindi's simple designs and delightful card samples that absolutely enchanted me and always has--I've never been able to part with the first Savvy images I bought, even tho they have long since been retired.

The landscape Chevron image and Flower Blossom Outline recently came to live at my house (along with quite a few others from Savvy's most recent release--have you seen the darling bike? EEP!!!)

I had fun using my Memento Dew Drops to create a multi-colored effect on the Chevron image--just start with the lightest  colors first, and then add the darker ones.  I love Tsukineko's Memento Dew Drops because their tear-drop shape and smaller size make them very useful for multi-coloring images like this. I deliberately left the colors "unblended" and I LOVE the look!

Initially I had planned to color the blossom, so I stamped it with Archival Jet Black, but I liked it so much just like it was, in contrast to the multi-colored background that I just punched it out (1 3/4" Circle Punch) and 3D mounted it and highlighted the center of it with glitter glue.  Um, that was easy!

Another fun thing I tried was to rub/drag the Pear Tart Dew Drop across the Thank You Flag--most of the time we're always trying to get a perfectly even application of ink, but I think the streaks look kinda cool and different on this particular stamp! Accented it with a narrow strip of some black & white piano stripe Washi Tape from my stash, and that was all she wrote!

And...

Y'all know what happened next...

Die Cutting Online Class, Seat Giveaway

It was so much fun contributing to Jennifer, Kristina & Nichol's die-cutting class! The interactive class is now over, but you can still take it as an independent study--totally worth it! Nautical Thank you

Red, white & blue... nautical... stars... stripes... I've always loved these! Also seems fitting, considering the weekend, to extend a patriotic salute of gratitude to all those serving, or have served, in our military forces.  I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that I'm the daughter of a USCG Chief, and his brother, my brother, an aunt, as well as other relatives, have all served. And, my daughter married a fine young man, currently serving in the Navy.  He's on tour in Afghanistan right now and the days can't go by fast enough until he's back home!

To all of our servicemen, and your families, thank you.

Quick share & news about a coming online workshop!

Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day--Just poppin' in to share a design I created for my daughter, who is expecting her first baby! :)

The design is pretty straight forward--computer generated the saying as I didn't have a stamp that said exactly what I wanted. Of all the quotes on motherhood that I've ever read, this one has always been my favorite. :)

Just put a smidge of washi tape from my stash to underscore the quote, and a heart punched from a pretty pinkish red paper. It's rare I make a card without any stamping on it at all, but this one just went that direction, and I just rolled with it. LOL!

By the way, if you are intrigued by washi tape and want to learn how to use this yummy stuff, Studio Calico is offering an online workshop, with the adorable Megan Hoeppner at the helm, and I'm excited to be a contributor to the class, along with several other gals who are just as addicted to the stuff as I am! WOO HOO!!! There are going to be some awesome ideas shared in this class--can't wait to see what the other contributors have done!

We're already in week two of FOLD IT, POP IT, FLIP IT, ZIP IT!  I am getting such a kick out of seeing awesome creations popping up that have been inspired by the class--I get the biggest smile when I see them!
