Smoke Signals . . . I AM BRILLIANT!!!
Funny how some things just pop into your head, and until you do something about it, it just sticks around in there, beggin' for attention. So it was with this design, which was shown in the May 4th A Muse Crew E-News . . . (if you love A Muse, and you're not on their E-News list, visit their site and send 'em an email to join--they send out a new card idea every week--the one in the May 4th E-News features the cutest "You rock!" card design by the fan-stamp-magorical Jennifer Pebbles!
Sneak Peek: Camp Fire image. All images by A Muse Art Stamps; Lime Peel Band Note Card by A Muse; Palette Hybrid Ink in Noir; Colorbox Fluid chalk Ink in Olive Pastel; Prismacolor Markers; Pigma Micron .05 for detailing above flames; Fiskars Hand-held Flower Punch; Oval Scallop Punch by Punch Bunch; Ribbon by Shindo; Sakura Quickie Glue Pen; Prisma Glitter; Foam Mounting Tape.
I was SO excited when A Muse released this camp fire image--so many possibilities, UKWIM?! I kept looking at Little Chief and thinkin' he might send "hello" smoke signals to a distant friend. As you can see, he had to chop a bit of wood, so he's got plenty of fuel for sending all the signals he wants! *chuckle*
The stack of logs was achieved by masking the flames off with a Post-It note, prior to inking the stamp, then removing the note prior to stamping. I love that little trick. If I'm careful, and there's enough of a gap, I can actually use a corner of my ink pad to ink only the portion I want--nice when you need to use a bleed-proof ink, because brush-tip markers tend to be water-based, and are NOT bleed-proof, so using markers to ink certain portions of an image is not always the way to go, UKWIM? But, if I want to take extra care not to get ink elsewhere, those Post It notes are a handy thing to have around. I keep gobs of 'em handy in my studio.
After getting the tree branches (done by stamping only the top of Leafy Tree), camp fire, Little Chief, and log stack stamped into position, I sat here puzzling about how to translate the smoke signals in my head onto paper and then I remembered my tiny flower punch, and the scallop oval punch. BOOYAH!!!
Yep! (Arms wrapped around self, chortling!) Gotta love those moments, eh?!
So, now this has me thinkin' even more (dangerous, I know! *insert rolling eyeballs*) . . . I have hinted to Linda that Little Chief needs a Pocahontas; after all . . . Billy the Kid has Calamity Jane . . . *more chuckling*
Am I right, or am I right? *wink*

U made a beautiful card! Love the color and it's clean. Suggestion...mask the chief so he's not half green...or stamp another, cut him out and layer over. Beautiful, beautiful card. TFS.

Thanks for sharing your brilliance!

Too cute and I love the little flowers - you are brilliant. Thought of another sentiment for this set
"I come in Peace". Yes I agree a little Squaw is definitely a must. Thanks Julie.

Maybe to follow your theme, it should say "How, friend!" Have you tried to invert an image by stamping it on waxed paper, flipping it over, placing it where you want it on your CS, and rubbing your hand across? That way, your little pile of wood would not be exactly like the campfire! (This was taught to me for reflection images, but works to the side as well.)
I love how you made your smoke signal made! You are so smart!
