Last year, I assembled the Sea of Love (Valentine) release for A Muse, and even illustrated a few images for it--it was such a fun one to do!
As Valentine's Day is drawing near, I started humming the song in my studio, and it inspired me to make this design. It's masculine, and not a traditional Valentine--no hearts and it's not "lovey-dovey", really. But, I absolutely love how it turned out.
Having been the daughter of a USCG Chief, I've spent most of my life living near the sea. The Mr. and I met in high school, in his hometown by the sea (my father was stationed there when I entered the 8th grade) and from the home we've lived in for 10 years now here on Whidbey Island, we can view the water and the beaches are 5 minutes away. So, I'm always drawn to nautical and sea imagery. I illustrated the coral and sand dollar images used in this design!
I have an aversion to putting ribbon, glitter or "bling" on masculine designs, so I kept this one pretty "rugged". Sappy tho it sounds, it makes me think of the Mr., and all the happy times we've spent at the seashore.
Oy. That really does sound sappy, doesn't it?! *chuckle*
Enjoy!
