Birthday Wishes

Fell in love with this design by Kristina, "Hi". I CASEd it. *grin* I didn't have any of the stuff she had used, but I did have stuff I could use to create a similar effect! Which resulted in serious bouncing, of course.

 

To recreate a similar look with stamps, the flowers were stamped with 2nd generation impressions over the School Lined patterned paper.

I did add the paper flower embellishment, tho, which I was actually making for another project, and it occurred to me that it would look POIFECT on this design.  So . . . here it blooms! *giddy*

After some congratulatory exclamations to self, and lots of back-patting, I handed the design over to my son.  He had been invited at the last minute to a girl friend's (friend that is a girl, not a girlfriend, for the record) birthday dinner and he desperately needed a card.  And, as he took it, he said, "You know, my friends all really like the birthday cards you make!"

Needless to say . . . I'm still beamin'!

Hello . . .

I think I'd mentioned the other day that I'd made 2 cards from the Just Because set.  This is #2.  I have a feeling there will be many more, cuz I *really* love this set!  I did pull the sentiment from another set, tho (Graphic Sunflower), cuz I wanted a very contemporary font for the greeting.

I am LIKIN' Lichen! *chortle*  Seriously, tho, it's an awesome shade of green!  I love using it in conjunction with Fern! I stamped the Mesh background with Versamark onto a panel of Kraft card stock, and then overstamped the leafy thingy with Lichen, and then again with Fern, to get the whole overall effect.

I wanted some tiny flowers on the leafy thingy, so I just snipped a few from our Tiny Flower Ribbon (Sugar) and glued those on.  Then, it seemed like some French Roast Pearl Stickers would look good in the centers, so on those went. Die cut the butterfly from vellum card stock. The different 3D mounted layers add some interest.

This was another one of those BOOYAH (turned out on the first try) designs!  Oh, yes, more of those, please!

Just because . . .

I can't decide if this color combo makes me think of fall or spring . . . either way, I LIKEY!!! It keeps calling to me!

Just Because is one of the new sets in the a|s catalog that has been beckoning me to play ever since I compiled it!  I can't help it--I'm a sucker for florals every single time!  I think it's cuz paper flowers are prolly the closest I'll ever get to gardening for realzzzz!!! *chortle*

Anyway, I sat down to play with this set last night, and ideas kept coming . . . there weren't enough hours to make 'em all reality, but I did finish two . . . I contemplated adding one more thing to this design, but I think it would have thrown the whole balance off.  Never mess with nirvana, eh?! *wink*

 Oh, yeah . . . you know what was goin' on . . .

Queen Anne's Lace on Navy

White space; it doesn't have to be white. *wink*  Sometimes referred to as "negative" space, it means the area in between graphics and other elements in a design. I often think of it as "room to breathe".  Not sure why. I'm weird that way, I s'pose.  LOL!

Anyhoo, there's something about white on navy that I just love--it looks so fresh and clean, and reminds me of summer days when it is sunny, but not too hot, and there's a light breeze coming in off the sea.

I could have embossed the Sugar ink with white embossing powder if I wanted ultimate contrast, but I liked it just like this--more gentle, softer . . .

 

The banner is sponged ever so lightly along the edges with Latté ink, which brings in the natural color of the twine the button is dressed up with (I cannot ever seem to leave my buttons nekked; it bugs me). It softens the edges of the banner; otherwise, the contrast would be very harsh and hard. Which isn't a bad thing--I just wasn't going for that in this design.

Brought in a little bit of Winter Sky with that narrow paper strip.  Totally my imagination, but that little hint of pale blue always seems to make Navy appear "richer" and more vibrant. 

Or, am I outta' my gourd? LOL!

Nicest thoughts . . .

OLC (One Layer Cards) are among my absolute favorite.  Have I mentioned how much I love white space? *grin*

Stamped the big flower in red, and then stamped a 2nd and 3rd generation (continuing to stamp without reinking the image). 3D mounted the smaller green flowers after trimming them out. Blinged the centers with Clear Twinkles.

Put a strip of Washi Tape down and then 3D mounted the little Kraft greeting banner . . . and that was all she wrote!

I like it! I love it! I want more of it! 

*chortling*

P.S. If I had stamped the green flowers directly onto the card front, instead of trimming and 3D mounting them separately, this prolly woulda' been a 5MQ.  Just sayin' . . . *wink*

This is really a fun blog--they asked if they could use a photo they had seen on my blog as their point of inspiration, and just look at what all these talented chiquitas came up with!!! Fabulous stuffs! So much eye candy to drool over!

Thinking of you . . .

This was inspired by a Krystie Lee design I fell in love with a few months ago--the combination of elements altogether just struck a chord in me!

I wanted to try the stripes and damask, and this color combo that's been rolling around in my head.  It's more earth-toned than I normally do, but I *love*!!!

The a|s Starter Kit Sampler Stamp Set has been sitting on my work space and different ideas for combining the images keep poppin' into my head, and BAM! Out came this! *arms wrapped 'round self, deep chortling*

The Moxie Fab blog is, in a word, FUN!  Cath Edvalson finds inspiration and delight in so many things and I'm always lovin' what she shares, and seeing how it fuels the creative fire in so many different ways, among so many different paper crafters!

A few weeks ago she asked me if I'd like to participate in her series, "At home with" and I had a total blast designing the project you'll see displayed when you hop on over there today.

Now, last post, I mentioned that I kinda have a "new" job, based on this "project" I'd been working on.  If you happened to watch any of the technique videos there at the new A Muse Studio website, you probably caught it . . . I'm very excited about my new role as Director of Education for the company!

I've been working together with some folks I love dearly on a "project" that I can finally share about:

I'm chuckling a bit, because it's the biggest "project" I've ever worked on.  And, along the way, I've learned a LOTTA new stuff.  Cool stuff.  Stuff I never imagined 2 years ago I'd be able to do.  And, as the "project" evolved, my role in that project did, too.  So, I kinda have a "new" job now.  And, I'm more excited about it than I really know how to put into words. 

And . . . that's why I have big butterflies . . .

I'm talkin' BIG butterflies . . .
