An Ocean of Blue . . .

 

This is such a gorgeous hue of blue--it looks particularly fetching with warm yellows and bright oranges & greens.

Tinted the flowers with Copics--and the leaves?  I took one of the Forget-me-nots and cut it apart after tinting, to layer behind the daisies!  They were perfect!  I AM BRILLIANT!!! (arms wrapped 'round self, and a considerable amount of chortling!)

Sat there debating about whether or not to whack the end off the label so it was flush with the edge of the card--sometimes an overhanging element is fun, but in this case, I think trimming it off also worked well. I rather like it!  What do you think?

I had a heck of a time getting this color to show up "true" in photography--it is actually deeper and more vibrant than the pic shows.  The whole combo all together is so SO pretty!!!  Makes me muy happy!

Friend to Friend

One of the things I love about Jill Foster's work, is her stunning use of color--bold, rich and, in a word, spectacular.  In an eye riveting, jaw-dropping, walk into a light-pole kinda way. And, she makes me want to be just as daring. *wink*

I was inking and sponging a considerably large area, and noticed that dragging them across such a large surface was abusing/tearing up my sponge daubers--too much pull across the paper, so I switched to some cosmetic wedges and that seemed to work just fine.

Used Versafine to stamp over the top in a nice rich/intense black.  Then I stamped the poppy again with Memento Tuxedo Black onto a scrap of Sugar card stock so I could color it in with Copics and trim it out to 3D mount it over the top for added dimension.

When I was done, I hemmed and hawed . . . over what kind of base card to use.  I finally just went with my favorite because I loved the way the focal panel literally pops against the contrast of pure white.

Hey, Mikey.  I likey!!!

A card and sweet gift in one!

Cherries are such happy things, doncha think?  I'm not really a fan of cherry pie, but I love fresh bing cherries.  My Grams used to have one, and as a kid when I'd go to visit her and Gramps in the summer time, I'd climb up that tree, and sit up there, eating cherries 'til I 'bout made myself sick.

Spied these sugar-free Lifesavers at Wally World a month ago, and snagged a bag, because this idea popped into my head.  Reminds me of those warm summer days, sittin' way up high in the cool shade of that tree's branches . . . *chinkle*

We're touring different areas of the country this Fall, as you may have heard, and in the month of September I'll be teaching some classes in the South-eastern states! YAY!

Just returned from a wonderful family trip, and what a treat to see the July Spotlight!

The 2nd leg...

I have to admit when we were planning in the spring to take our son to Duke for basketball camp this summer, we debated long and hard on when we'd have an opportunity to travel back out this way again...

We decided that sometimes, you just have to take advantage of certain moments and not brush it off with "some day" because if you don't, "some day" often becomes "had the chance, but never did..."

Long time no stamp!

This photo is of one of the arched doorways on Duke University's campus!

The Mr. is a tremendous fan of the Duke Blue Devils and Coach K. We are currently on a once in a lifetime trip to North Carolina, for our son to attend the Coach K basketball camp.

The architecture is beautiful--wish I had the camera skills to do it justice! I have been taking the camera to campus every day, practicing. I've shared more on Facebook because it's easier when one is on the go, but I'll share more here when we get back. We've never been to this part of the US before and it's been fun! And HOT!!! Something we rarely experience on Whidbey Island. *chuckle*
