Partial Window, Thoughtful Butterflies

It's been a while since I've done something like this card.  This time, I filmed it, so you could see the process, start to finish. Gosh, I love my Circle Scissor Pro! Thought I'd never find another I would love as much as the Coluzzle (R.I.P.)

I'm lovin' this Wood Grain Cover-a-Card stamp by Impression Obsession--so cool 'cuz, at 6" square, it can go either direction to cover an entire card front!  BOOYAAAAAAH!!!

When we were at the CHA trade show, Ellen and I stopped by the Impression Obsession booth and went AGOG over the Mega Mount. Card-sized and larger cling backbground stamps will fit beautifully on it and because of the sturdy handle and the way it curves, we got beautiful impressions (work on a hard, flat surface or place your project on top of a piece of Fun Foam) and it was a breeze to clean the stamp afterwards.  Niiiiiice!!!  We were happily astonished with this new-to-us accessory/tool! *monkey clapping*

I also played around with the new Distress Markers from Ranger on this design.  They are water-based and worked very well for the watercolor method you see in the video. The butterflies were white embossed on Smooth Bristol, which I like to watercolor on. Enjoy here or on YouTube!

True story: Julie don't sew.

My mama's got mad skillz with a sewing machine, but alas, I did not inherit her talents. I'm more likely to hem my slacks with Sookwang tape than drag out the machine.

So, I often cheat. Quite BRILLIANTLY, I might add. *arms wrapped 'round self, bouncing & chortling*

I used a Fiskars Squeeze Punch I have had for the longest time to punch a handful of hearts from different papers in the Picadilly 6x6" Pad--such happy, happy paper! You could use the larger Collection Pack, of course, too.

By 3D mounting the truck, I didn't need to mask it off.  Could have, but I wanted the added dimension of the truck popped up.

Quickie blog post re: CHA 2012

Got back last week after accompanying dear friend and colleague Ellen to CHA 2012 (Craft & Hobby Association's Annual Trade Show).

In some years past, CHA has had a massive crush of attendees and exhibitors, but this year was more calm, and rather pleasant, actually!

Unfortunately, wifi was horrid inside the show, and it took forever to get pictures from my phone uploaded--I was trying to share on the fly, and it was kinda frustrating to be so eager to share something, and then not being able to get the pictures up in a timely fashion. Video wouldn't load up at all onto YouTube--we were only able to get one up after repeated attempts--even from the PAID wifi we had at the hotel--so we finally gave up on that and focused more on photos. The lighting was also pretty bad in most places but I was surprised how well the iPhone 4 camera did taking still shots when there was some decent light! It would have been a pain trying to haul a digital SLR throughout the show, given the pace we were moving at . . . I imagine those with a 4s probably got some super fabulous shots, and pretty good HD video! *envy*

• Thought we were really on top of it when we filmed our shenanigans at the Ranger by Design class . . . until we got to the portion Ellen had filmed. Ellen is not a videographer. As you can see, I had to take over. BAH HAHAHAHAHA!!!! We left it as it was, however, because we are total goofballs. If you don't mind watching a couple of goofballs in action, you can watch our little video HERE on YouTube.

• The next best thing to petting everything luscious at the show, is seeing some photos, so we've put together a photo recap of SOME of the great new products Ellen will be carrying in the store--it's kind of a long post, BUT it gives you a good idea/recap of the diverse range that will be arriving over the coming weeks. You can see that HERE.

• We also did a Top Ten Favorite Finds video, which you can see HERE.

Side note: Our videos were created with iMovie on the iPad 2--we actually taught ourselves on the plane before arriving, LOL!!! Anyhoo, we had a ton of fun learning something new, given our lack of technical expertise. Hah!

We had a great time and it was fun to hug so many industry friends, meeting some for the first time ever IRL! Made some new friends, as well!

I will end today's post with shot of this CUTE li'l guy who rode past us at the end of the show one night--his mama is training him early! ;)

He was happy as a clam in his crafty "limo"!  *chuckle*

I guess I best quit blathering, and get busy makin' things with the cool stuffs that made me bounce off my chair.  Cannot wait to share with ya'all!

I made this sweet thing before CHA, but didn't have time to blog it before leaving. I'm still working with the same Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday set, called "Love Always Wins".

Super jazzed that Ellen will be carrying even more Technique Tuesday stamps--including the AE Studio Limited Edition and Garden Society Limited Edition Programs!

                                                                                                         

I used some white detail embossing powder from my stash because the words along the top of this image are quite tiny and they would have blurred if I'd used a regular grind EP.

And, I don't care what anybody else says about eyelets (from my stash) being "out"; they are a staple, for cryin' out loud! *hair flip to those that diss the eyelets*

The charcoal base card is from my stash--I'm *really* into charcoal this year, as I was last year.  Along with red.  Seriously, no clue why. I just likey. LOL!

Love making my own tags with that Angle Corner Chomper. ANY COLOR I LIKEY. ANY SIZE I LIKEY.
